Ia memang merupakan sosok di balik salah satu film romance paling populer sepanjang masa, Pretty Woman, namun tiga film terakhir dari Garry Marshall bukan sebuah prestasi dengan pencapaian yang oke. Yang menarik adalah dua film terakhirnya selalu mengambil tema hari special, tahun 2010 Valentine's Day dan tahun 2011 New Year's Eve, keduanya merupakan film yang hambar untuk mengisi dua hari special tadi. Lima tahun istirahat kali ini Garry Marshall kembali dengan hari special lainnya, Mother's Day, film yang seolah meneruskan baton dari dua film Garry sebelumnya tadi.
